Big Brothers and Big Sisters

  • Every Monday and Friday, Grades 3, 4, and 5 eat lunch with a Big Brother or Big Sister.
  • A new partnership between Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Cincinnati and St. Francis Seraph School help bring positive role models together with children in need of positive adults in their lives.
  • Having lunch together and playing games might not seem monumental, but it is to these students. “For them to know that these men and women are stopping what they’re doing to come and spend time with them, it means so much to the kids. The children were so excited for this first visit and I know it’ll be that way every week.”
  • Kathy List, the CEO at BBBS, knows how important this kind of commitment is. She appreciates that “Instead of fighting juvenile crime, the recruits will put their energy into prevention by becoming caring, trusted adults in the lives of the children who need help the most.”
  • As for the students, all they knew was that they were having a great time with some new friends. From games like cards and checkers and Connect 4, to just enjoying lunch and each other’s company, the connection is already started.
