 - The mission of Winners Walk Tall is "to develop today's youth into tomorrow's WINNERS through a character-building program that teaches fundamental values and life-changing skills." Founded in 1992 in one Cincinnati urban school, today WWT reaches thousands of young students from Massachusetts to Missouri, Florida to Canada. Currently it serves 38 schools in the greater Cincinnati area, engaging over 100 character coach volunteers.
- St. Francis Seraph School has 4 character coaches who visit their assigned classrooms once a week for a 12 to 15 minutes lesson on a specific topic covering a fundamental life skill. Topics include the importance of "please" and "thank you", shaking hands with a firm grip, looking people in the eyes, calling them by name with a smile. They stress the importance of education, the need to "read to succeed", how TV can be a time waster, often delivering the wrong message, how to listen to learn and learn to listen, how not to be a bully or allow others to bully you. The character coach can use lesson plans and materials already prepared by WWT or integrate their own creative methods into the topic of the day.
- We thank SFSS character coaches, Jessica Bird, John Feister, Vallie Geier, and Casey Gilmore, for their dedication to the WWT program and to our students. This program is making a difference in their lives.
